A God of Details

The Stunning Peacock

Have you ever looked at the depth of detail within creation? There is not a single piece of matter that doesn't exude immense detail throughout its structure. Just look at this peacock. Our Creator took the care to place extraordinary detail in the feathers of this gorgeous bird. See the gradient shades of blues? The closer you zoom into the image the more detail that is revealed. The fibers within each strand of feather have segmented layer upon layer with colors making up each segment. Wow!

It is both intriguing and humbling to think that the God of this universe who spoke all matter into existence actually took the most care with you and I. Created in His image, God topped off His most valued creation with unfathomable detail.

Genesis 2:7 "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."

To comprehend that the God who made these beautiful birds with all their exquisite detail also cares for you and to the extent that “all the hairs on your head are numbered.” (Luke 12:7). If we ponder this truth for a bit we will begin to understand the depth of God's love for us which can free us from the need for approval from others.

Finding our identity in God and not in our family, friends, careers, talents and physical features is life transforming. To truly understand that God knows every detail about every part of you, inside and out, and loves you unconditionally will allow you to live in peace and a renewed freedom. "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb." (Psalm 139:13)

Mothers Womb
“…knit in your mothers womb."

Many people that I meet seem to be in a state of constant turmoil as they strive to be someone that they are not. We are all guilty of this to some degree as the world just keeps pressing in on us and demanding that the actor, or actress, show up and play the role. This state of existence can be exhausting, however, resting in the knowledge that you belong to God, and not this world, is extremely comforting. I've learned that the more that I really trust God, the more peace I find, and the more peace I find, the more detail I see in everything, and the more detail that I see in everything, the more I see my Creator. It's a beautiful circular journey back to the beginning of life. To step off your relentless treadmill that began as a child, and continued through life, and drove you to become the someone you were not meant to be is quite liberating, but you have to be the one who recognizes that you may have lost your way.

Let me encourage you today by assuring you that you are loved by your Maker more than you can comprehend. I had a very close friend once tell me; "When God sets you free to choose your life, He waits for you to choose Him and desires more than anything for you to return, but you are free to choose and make your own decisions. That's free will. We are not puppets. He will not force Himself on you. Some choose the world, and some choose to get off the treadmill and return to the Author of Peace, to the Creator of detail." Breathe in, breathe out... may your spirit calm and may you begin to see the immense detail in all of creation, and that includes YOU.
